How to start your portrait
To create your piece of art, Terry will need to see several photographs of your pet. Start by uploading one on the next page. Once you place your order, we will contact you by email so you can send in all your photos. And if you only have printed photos, we will arrange for you to mail them in. Any photographs you send to us will be returned with your completed portrait.
We will arrange for you to speak one on one with Terry so you can tell her all about your pet and what you would like her to capture. She can create something classic or a portraiture with a more modern flare. Make sure to tell her which photo is your favorite and why.
After you have had your initial phone meeting with Terry, described exactly what you would like and Terry receives your reference image(s), she will begin your portrait by drawing a rough sketch. The rough sketch shows composition/layout and major color choices. This is emailed to you and upon your approval of the rough sketch, 50% of the fee becomes non-refundable and your painting is begun. Once your portrait is complete, a digital image will be emailed to you before it is shipped. Your satisfaction is always our goal!

* Add 50% for each additional subject in the same painting. Not available for the 8x10" size.
* Simple studio backgrounds are included. Specific location backgrounds will be quoted on an individual basis.
* Extra items can be painted such as toys, chairs, and household items. These too will be quoted on an individual basis.
Mediums and Material
Choose between oil, acrylic or pastel. All of Terry's work is done on and with museum grade materials. All the surfaces are archival and acid-free. Pastels are done on a special 'sanded surface' panel made especially for pastels and must be framed with glass when received. Oils and acrylics are created on either a canvas panel or specially prepared gessoed wood panel, neither of which require glass when framing. Panels are 1/8" thick so any photograph frame can be used. Simply remove the glass and the painting fits right in and will be ready to hang.
*Upon request, the painting can be done on a stretched linen canvas for an additional charge if you prefer.
Turn Around Time
The time to complete your order depends on the details of your commissioned piece. Here are general guidelines:
1. Pastels and acrylics can usually be shipped in 4-6 weeks AFTER the rough sketch is approved.
2. 16"x20" size portraits and larger require 2 additional weeks.
3. Oils take longer to ship because they have to cure. Please allow 8-10 weeks AFTER the rough sketch is approved.
4. Rush orders will be considered on an individual basis.
Your completed work of art will be shipped, insured, through UPS. During checkout today, your order will not inlclude shipping. Upon completion, Terry will package your portrait with care and we will send you a separate invoice for the shipping. This can be paid through Paypal or with the credit card you use today. We will ship your painting upon receipt of this final payment. Shipping will range from approximately $15 for a small acrylic to approximately $100 for a large oil.
